Tutti-Frutti Cake is a delicious cake like cake slices enjoyed during tea time. All cakes do not need frosting to taste good. In India Tutti-Frutti is made from raw papaya, these small pieces of papaya are candied and brightly colored. Tutti-Frutti is used in products like cakes, milk-breads, cookies, ice-creams, sweet paan, and more. Different versions of tutti-frutti desserts are found in many cultures around the World.

Ingredients:

Duncan Hines Classic White Cake Mix

3 Large Eggs

1 cup Water

1/3 cup Vegetable Oil

7 oz. Tutti-Frutti

1 teaspoon Cardamom Powder (freshly crushed or ground)

 

Instructions:

 

  1. Preheat oven at 350 degree F. Prepare the cake pan 8*2 inches with Baker’s Joy.
  2. In a bowl or stand mixer add cake mix, tutti-frutti and cardamom powder, mix with a spatula.
  3. Add eggs, water and vegetable oil; whisk the cake batter for 2 minutes or until smooth.
  4. Pour the cake batter in the cake pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven when toothpick comes out clean or center spring backs to touch.
  6. Let the cake pan rest on the wire rack for 10 minutes.
  7. Spray the wire rack with vegetable oil.
  8. Remove the cake from the cake pan and let it cool completely.
  9. Frost the cake with a thin crumb coat of vanilla frosting.

 

Helpful Hints:

  • Make sure that the cake batter do not have lumps, as lumps are not appetizing and taste funny.
  • Tutti-Frutti Cake is enjoyed without any frosting, however a thin coat of vanilla frosting brings out the flavor of tutti-frutti and cardamom powder.
  • Freshly ground or crushed cardamom taste really divine, do not have to be fine powder. Unevenly crushed cardamom seeds add a crunchy texture.
